With a view to educate the Indian enterprises about the effects of this

alliance as well as the features of the different Foundry solutions, D-Link

recently organized a three-city Technology Seminar in New Delhi, Bangalore and

Mumbai.

Chandra Kopparapu, vice president, Multi-Layer Switching Products, Foundry

Networks US, was the prime speaker at the event. The seminar demystified the

latest in 10Gb Ethernet, Layer 4-7 Switching, IPv6, Security & Metro

Ethernet Networks and highlighted solutions that help enterprises and service

providers build network infrastructure that lay the foundation for

next-generation applications.

In addition to elucidating on different technologies, Kopparapu’s

presentation also dwelt on how these technologies and solutions could increase

performance, security, availability and scalability for enterprise network

applications. "Companies are increasingly becoming used to IT being the

crux of all their strategic decisions and the demands on the network are

increasing exponentially. Indian enterprises might have recognized the fruits of

IT late, but they surely are moving fast and are serious about future-proofing

their network infrastructure for more demanding enterprise applications,"

he said.

The other speaker at the seminar, Prabodh Vyas, director–Sales, D-Link

India, elaborated on the benefits of the D-Link Foundry alliance in India. Under

the conditions of the agreement, the entire range of Foundry’s product suite

including the ‘FastIron’ family of Layer 2/3 enterprise switches, the ‘BigIron’

family of Layer 3 backbone switches, the ‘EdgeIron’ family of Layer 2 wiring

closet switches, the ‘NetIron’ family of metro routers and the ‘ServeIron’

Layer 4-7 traffic management switches are now available in India under the ‘Foundry-D-Link’

co-brand. "With co-branded products of Foundry Networks, we would now

address the entire networking and communications product spectrum in India. Thus

the customer would be able to get the complete enterprise solution from a single

vendor and also enjoy the assurance of our service support," he added.
