JioFiber Set-Top Box Now Available for All Users, Installation Can Be Requested Through MyJio App

JioFiber set-top box is now being installed for all subscribers, and the same can be requested through the MyJio App after opting for a paid plan. Most users who were on the Preview Offer were reportedly asked to choose a plan last week after their Internet connection was stopped ‘abruptly’.

“Today in our residential society Rel Jio has disconnected the free WiFi services they were providing for the last 1 year and installing the set-top box in each apartment who were Jio Fiber customers. This means from today Jio starts to charge for WiFi,” says Arvind Datta on Twitter.

“Given to understand Jio has pulled the plug on all free Jio Fiber plans from today and everyone has to migrate to a Set Top Box with a paid subscription Huge positive for RIL share..expect it to touch new highs next week,” he adds. The same was confirmed by various other users on Twitter.

Reliance Jio has also apparently brought in a migration plan using which JioFiber consumers 50GB data at 100Mbps speeds for seven days, according to a report on NDTV. The migration plan has been provided to users on the Preview Offer at no extra cost. Suppose a user exhausts their 50GB within seven days, speeds drop to 1Mbps.

How to Receive JioFiber Set-Top Box?

Once users opt for a paid plan – Bronze plan worth Rs 699, Silver plan worth Rs 849, Gold plan worth Rs 1299, Diamond plan worth Rs 2499, Platinum worth Rs 3999, or Titanium plan worth Rs 8499 – they receive an option to request for a free JioFiber set-top box installation on their MyJio App. More information on the paid plans, welcome offer and other information has been provided on DataQuest.

Several users have opted for the installation as of now, and some are even complaining about the delay in receiving their set-top boxes. “My request to install set-top box for JioFiber is three times postponed for no reason. Jio what's going on, if you can't, pls stop. ‘Your JioExpress request has been re-scheduled for 12-26-2019 at 10:00 to 11:00 hrs. You will receive details of Jio Representative shortly’” says a user on Twitter.

However, another user has shared an image of his Hybrid JioFiber set-top box saying “JIOSTB is here. Kind of fire tv with less apps as of now. Live channels are there but those are also less and supposed to be more in near future. Voice search is available through remote. A decent package if you have JioFiber and don't want to pay extra for OTT APPS/Cable tv,” says Adarsh Shrivastava on Twitter.

What Are the OTT Apps available on the JioFiber Set-Top Box?

Some of the OTT apps that are available on the JioFiber set-top box are Hotstar, SonyLiv, Voot, JioCinema, JioSaavn, Zee5, SunNxt, YouTube, JioTV and many more OTT apps are expected to come soon.
