However, the official Jio Care account on Twitter has denied the latest development. The Distinct Advantage Jio VoWiFi has Over Airtel Wi-Fi Calling

While both Jio VoWiFi and Airtel Wi-Fi Calling offer users the choice to make and receive voice or video calls and send SMS when the mobile connectivity is poor Jio VoWiFi has one advantage over Airtel Wi-Fi Calling. While Airtel Wi-Fi Calling is available only for Airtel Broadband users, Jio VoWiFi is compatible with any WiFi network.

“Voice-over-Wi-Fi enables you to make and receive Voice/Video calls and send SMS over any Wi-Fi connection. The service is available on selective handset models that are compatible with using VoWiFi. This service is currently available only in Kerala, Maharashtra and Kolkata Circle. There are no additional charges for using the service. However, voice, data and SMS usage charges apply as per your current plan,” says the official Jio Care account.

Nevertheless, currently, Airtel Wi-Fi Calling is available in New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu, while Jio VoWiFi is available in Kerala, Maharashtra and Kolkata. Furthermore, Airtel says that they are working towards making the service available across different service providers and handsets as well.

That said, considering the demand for VoWiFi services in the Indian market, it is only a matter of time wherein Jio VoWiFi services will be available across various circles in India as well. To enable VoWiFi on smartphones (both Airtel and Jio) consumers have to go to Settings and turn on both VoLTE and WiFi after which they will be able to see the Wi-Fi calling feature.
