After Hathway Cable and Datacom, Reliance Industries is now eyeing a stake in Den Networks, says a report the Economic Times quoting sources with knowledge on the matter. After reports of the acquisition broke out, Shares of Hathway Cable and Datacom and DEN Networks Ltd rose 8.16 percent and 7.82 percent, respectively.

Also, Sanjay Bafna, popular social media personality and tech insider, tweeted "Reliance Industries / Reliance Jio Media Ltd is likely to own over 25% each in the two companies (Hathway and DEN ) giving it the ability to control developments and get a seat on the board."

The New Delhi based Den Networks Limited, which is owned by Sameer Manchanda, is the largest cable TV distribution company in India, serving thirteen million homes in more than 200 cities across thirteen states, says a report. Therefore, owning stakes in Hathway and Den could actually lead to the roll-out of Jio GigaFiber and Jio DTH by the festival of Diwali as being speculated by the market.

Jio GigaFiber, which promises 1Gbps speed, will empower its set-top box being pegged as Jio DTH with the ability to allow its users to video calls along with features like smart remote in several Indian languages as well as with voice command support.

Jio GigaTV or Jio DTH set-top box will also offer Ultra HD entertainment, multi-party video conferencing, voice activated virtual assistant, virtual reality gaming, shopping and smart home solutions, said Mukesh Ambani in a Reliance Event in July. Jio GigaFiber installation is being done free of charge but users opting for it will have to pay a security deposit of Rs 4500 that is completely refundable according to the company. Jio DTH too is expected to disrupt the broadcom market with prices as low as Rs 500 per month for HD services.
