JEE Main 2020 and NEET: Special Suburban Trains in Mumbai to Ferry Students to Exam Centres

Students appearing for JEE Main 2020 and NEET can travel by special suburban trains in Mumbai on the days on which examinations will be held

JEE Main 2020 and NEET students and guardians will be permitted to travel in special suburban services over Mumbai Suburban network over Central and Western Railways as permitted by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This initiative was announced by Piyush Goyal, Minister of Railways and Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

“Supporting students appearing for NEET & JEE exams, Railways has permitted them, and their guardians to travel by special suburban services in Mumbai on exam days. General passengers are requested not to commute,” he said.

Students appearing for JEE Main 2020 and NEET would be required to show their admit cards to gain entry into the suburban stations for themselves as well as guardians. Station and security officials have been instructed to allow students on the days of examination, said a statement from the Ministry of Railways. This decision was hailed by the Education Minister, Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank.

“I express my gratitude towards Minister of Railways to let students avail special sub urban train services of Mumbai for JEE and NEET,” he said. The Ministry of Railways has made it clear that this exception has only been made available for students appearing for JEE Main 2020 and NEET, and that all others must avoid rushing to the stations.

JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020 will be conducted as per schedule from 1 to 6 September 2020, and 13 September 2020, respectively. 8.58 lakh and 15.97 lakh candidates have registered for JEE Main 2020 and NEET 2020, respectively. JEE Main is a Computer Based Test (CBT) and NEET is a pen paper-based test.
