After completing his engineering from Ranchi, Mudit Agarwal worked at Tata

Steel before pursuing a post graduate diploma in management from IIM Lucknow. He

then joined HCL as a consultant. Then followed a five-year stint with HLL. He

took over as the CIO of Domino’s Pizza India limited earlier this year.

Present job profile

As a CIO I am supposed to work as a facilitator in implementing business

strategies through the use of IT and at times, suggest areas where IT can help

the business better. I am involved in providing strategic inputs as well as

planning and implementing solutions that help the business.

Challenges at work

Managing priorities and the business expectations from IT. But IT is not a

magic wand that will make your problems vanish. Moreover, with constraints on

resources, there is a limit to what you can bite at a time. There is an immense

number of options and one has to make a judicious choice so that the investment

is protected for years to come.

Professional mistake

After I finished my engineering, I joined the raw materials division of TISCO

and worked in the mining department. But that was something I didn’t really

enjoy doing and so needed to get out of that place.

Achievements

I am happy with what I am and what I have. But it’s still too early in life

to say that I have achieved something. I have a loving and caring family and

some good friends on whom I can always depend.

Something close to your heart

It’s not fair to consider a politician young at the age of

58 while a layman retires at that age from the services sector. If the country

was run like a corporation by a team of professionals, we would be in a

different world.
