ShepHertz's endeavor is to make app developers successful on the cloud, irrespective of the technology or platform on which they are developing. All our products focus on making the app developer's life easy and augmenting their business. ShepHertz provides a complete cloud ecosystem for apps (i.e. Mobile, Web, Social, Gaming and TV apps). The cloud ecosystem consists of App42 Cloud API - BaaS + Game Mechanics, AppWarp Multiplayer Gaming Cloud Engine, AppWarpS2, Backend PaaS and App42 Gaming PaaS.

For us, it was essential to be a global company right from the start, to service app developers across the world and that our infrastructure is scalable to support this rapid growth. At the same time, we also wanted to ensure that we were able to be cost effective and efficient.

What parameters did you look at while evaluating a cloud vendor?

AWS was our obvious choice for several reasons, the primary reason was because of AWS's global presence. Adding to that, none of the other vendors were able to match the scale and breadth of AWS cloud services at affordable price points without compromising on quality. Lastly, AWS also met our criteria for technology agnostic infrastructure since our product lines are built using multiple technologies.

How has your move to the AWS cloud helped? What benefits have you seen?

Thanks to the AWS cloud, today we have thousands of customers globally. We are ranked as one of the top 17,000 sites globally and 1400 in India as per Alexa, based on developer traffic. Many of our customers' apps have millions of users and have charted as the top apps on various AppStores. We have processed billions of APIs cost through our platform.

AWS has enabled us to go global fast, exercise great cost effectiveness and offered us the flexibility to develop our own solutions without any technological constraints. Adding to that, AWS constantly lowers its prices and we try to pass that cost advantage back to our customers. Here are some additional details on the benefits we have experienced with AWS:

Go global: With AWS' global presence, we have been able go global within a matter of hours. Also, even though our R&D and support is based out of India, we can still service app developers all over the world and add any new location in the world to our list within a day. For example, when we started getting a lot of queries from Japan and South America, we added AWS' Tokyo and Sau Paulo Regions and were able to get our system up and running in just a day.

Cost effective: As a start-up growing at tremendous speed we needed to be as cost effective as possible, so that we could pass those benefits back to our customers. With AWS' affordable pricing without compromising on quality, we were able to save on huge CAPEX and OPEX costs.
