ISRO YUVIKA 2020 Postponed, Revised Date to Be Announced Later

ISRO YUVIKA 2020 results were announced last month on the official website, and there are 368 names of students on the provisional list

ISRO YUVIKA 2020 or the Young Scientist Programme has been postponed the Indian Space Research Organisation. The revised dates will be announced on a later date said a message on the ISRO website. Out of a total of 368 students, 3 from each State or Union Territory, and 5 additional OCI were to be selected for the programme.

“The Young Scientist programme (YUVIKA) was scheduled to be held during May 11-22, 2020. In connection with the measures taken in the wake of COVID-19, it has been decided to postpone the YUVIKA 2020 programme. The revised schedule of the programme will be informed subsequently,” says a message on ISRO.

The 368 selected students were given time until 2 April 2020 to submit all relevant documents, and the final list was supposed to be announced after verifying all the documents. Selected students would be sent to any one of the following centres of ISRO or DOS to complete the programme:

Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram.

U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), Bengaluru.

Space Applications Centre (SAC), Ahmedabad.

North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Shillong.

Nevertheless, taking a look at the current situation in the country it would be unlikely for the programme to be conducted any time in the near future due to the lockdown until 3 May 2020, and the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country.

ISRO YUVIKA 2020 or Young Scientist Programme 2020 was started last year to impart basic knowledge on space technology, space science and space applications to the younger ones with the intent of arousing their interest in the emerging areas of Space activities. “The program is thus aimed at creating awareness amongst the youngsters who are the future building blocks of our Nation,” says ISRO.

ISRO YUVIKA 2020 is conducted for two weeks and the schedule includes invited talks, experience sharing by the eminent scientists, facility and lab visits, exclusive sessions for discussions with experts, practical and feedback sessions.
