ISRO Recruitment 2021: VSSC Invites Applications from Postgraduates for 12 Research Vacancies, Salary Rs 31,000

ISRO recruitment 2021 is currently underway at the Space Physics Laboratory (SPL) of Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram. VSSC is one of the leading centers on the Indian Space Research Organisation. The vacancies available are that of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for which postgraduates can apply. Selected candidates will initially be engaged for a year, which may be extended up to five years. Those engaged at ISRO as junior research fellows will initially be paid Rs 31,000 per month, which will later be increased to 35,000.

How Can Apply for ISRO Recruitment 2021 at VSSC?

The latest ISRO recruitment notification issued on the official VSSC website says that there are a total of 12 JRF vacancies for which candidates with the following qualifications may apply:

MSc degree in physics, applied physics, space physics, atmospheric science, meteorology or planetary sciences with an aggregate minimum of 65% marks, which is the average of all semesters or CGPA or CPI grading of 6.84 on a 10 point scale or equivalent, or MTech in atmospheric science, space science, planetary science or applied physics with a minimum of 60% marks as the average of all semesters in aggregate or CGPA or CPI grading of 6.5 on a 10 point scale or equivalent.

Along with the above mentioned educational qualifications, applicants should have also cleared one of the following examinations:

• CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test, including NET-Lectureship.
• Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) conducted by MHRD.
• Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST).

Selection Criteria for ISRO Recruitment 2021 at VSSC

Meritorious students will be shortlisted for the interview, and the selection of JRF will be based on the performance at the interview. ISRO says that the qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement and the same does not automatically make candidates eligible for interviews. The call letter for the interview will be sent to the short-listed candidates by e-mail, and the result of the interview will be announced at the VSSC website. Applicants will have to carry original documents at the time of the interview.
