ISRO Quiz Competition 2019 winners will watch the prestigious moment of Chandrayaan 2 landing on the moon live from Bengaluru on 7 September 2019 with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In a fresh update today, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) announced that the final orbit raising manoeuvre of Chandrayaan 2 spacecraft was successfully carried out on 14 August 2019 at 02:21 am IST, and this also means that Chandrayaan 2 has entered the Lunar Transfer Trajectory. Earlier, the spacecraft’s orbit was progressively increased five times from 23 July to 6 August 2019.

ISRO has also announced that the Vikram lander will separate from the orbiter on 2 September 2019. Two orbit maneuvers will be performed on the lander before the initiation of powered descent to make a soft landing on the lunar surface on 7 September 2019. This would also mean that the winners of the ISRO Quiz Competition 2019 would most likely be announced by the end of this month, considering the fact that the quiz will be conducted until 20 August 2019.

ISRO Quiz Competition 2019

The ISRO Quiz Competition 2019 is currently being conducted on MyGov.in and will end on 20 August 2019. There are a total of 20 questions, and the marks are being awarded in percentile. The questions are multiple-choice questions (MCQ) and are based on general knowledge, and space science and technology.

Two top-scoring students of classes 8 to 10 from each State and Union Territory will be invited to ISRO, Bengaluru Centre to watch the landing of Chandrayaan 2 on the moon on 7 September 2019, live along with the Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More details on the quiz are available here.

Chandrayaan 2 Landing on the Moon

In a fresh update issued today, ISRO says that Chandrayaan 2 will approach the Moon on 20 August 2019 and the spacecraft's liquid engine will be fired again to insert the spacecraft into a lunar orbit. The health of the spacecraft is being continuously monitored from the Mission Operations Complex (MOX) at ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC) in Bengaluru along with support from Indian Deep Space Network (IDSN) antennas. The final soft landing on the moon will most likely be on 7 September 2019.
