ISRO centre Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS) is now accepting registrations for yet another free online course called “Application of Geoinformatics in Ecological Studies”. IIRS, as part of its outreach programme, offers various live and interactive courses. This particular course is designed for organizations, students, NGOs and other stakeholders engaged in ecological studies.
What the ISRO IIRS Course on Geoinformatics Will Cover?
The course aims at giving learners an understanding of geoinformatics can be used to give a better understanding of ecological systems. Participants will get to learn about an overview of the application of geoinformatics in ecological studies; ecological niche-based species distribution modelling; ecological studies using LiDAR; biodiversity assessment with geoinformatics; geostatistical analysis in ecological studies; biodiversity informatics and citizen science; satellite telemetry for wildlife studies; and ecological studies using cloud computing.
Who can Take Part in the ISRO IIRS Course on Geoinformatics?
The course, IIRS says, has been designed for professionals from central, state government, private organizations, NGO, students and researchers engaged in ecological studies. Users attending programmes under CEC-UGC, CIETand other networks as well as institutions on high-speed National Knowledge Network (NKN) can also participate.
Participants of the course will also receive a certificate based on 70% attendance and 40% in the online examination. The certificate will also be available under E-CLASS login of each participant.
How to Register for the ISRO IIRS Course on Geoinformatics?
Interested participants will need to register with IIRS platform by selecting the name of their institution and providing all other required details. The programme can be received through E-CLASS platform of IIRS ISRO using good internet connectivity, and desktop. Candidates who have already registered for earlier courses can use the same login and password. Candidates whose registrations are not approved can watch live sessions through YouTube.
