ISRO is offering yet another free online certificate course through its centre the centre Indian Institute of Remote Sensing. The name of the course is Remote Sensing Applications in Agricultural Water Management, which can be completed by learners in four days. The course brochure says that as the number of seats is limited, learners will be enrolled on a first come first serve basis.
The free online course by ISRO IIRS is sponsored by National Natural Resources Management System – Standing Committee on Training and Education (SC-T), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space (DOS), Government of India.
How to Apply for the ISRO IIRS Course on Remote Sensing Applications?
The applications for those who wish to take the course need to be forwarded by the participant’s coordinators from their respective organisations or centres. To participate in the programme, the interested organisations, universities, departments, or institutes would have to identify a coordinator at their end who will get their institute registered online on the IIRS website as the nodal centre.
Other interested participants will have to choose the name of their institution from the official IIRS website online registration page. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be awarded a certificate based on 70 percent attendance and 40 percent in the online examination.
Who can Apply for the ISRO IIRS Course on Remote Sensing Applications?
Professionals from central or state governments, private organizations, NGO as well as students and researchers engaged in water management aspects of agriculture can apply for the course. The online application is also open for users attending programmes under CEC-UGC, CIET and other networks. Institutions on high-speed National KnowledgeNetwork (NKN) can also participate.
What Will be Taught During the Course?
The course will cover the concept and fundamentals of agricultural water management and role of EO in water management; remote sensing of irrigated crop area mapping and irrigation crop water requirement; remote sensing of regional crop evapotranspiration estimation; satellite remote sensing of soil moisture and global products; and UAV and advanced remote sensing for agricultural water management.
