ISRO free online course with certificate is being offered on space technology and its applications for school teachers

ISRO has invited applications from school teachers in India for a free online course with certificate on space technology and its applications. The course is being offered to raise awareness as well as for the capacity building of school teachers on the use of space technology and its applications. The course is being conducted by Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), which is a constituent unit of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). Those who obtain 70 percent attendance for the ISRO free online course will be given certificates.

What the ISRO Free Online Course Will Cover?

The ISRO free online aims at making participants aware that data and information generated using space science and technologies are very important for socio- economic development of the society. Some of the topics that will be covered are as follows:

• Space technology and Indian space program.
• Satellite communication and navigation technology and its applications.
• Satellite meteorology and weather applications.
• Planetary science.
• Astronomy and space science.
• Satellite based Earth observations and remote sensing technology.
• Remote sensing applications in governance.

Furthermore, experiments on reading satellite imageries for information extraction and geodata access from online data repositories and problem solving using GIS will also be done. 

Who Can Attend the ISRO Free Online Course?

The course is most suitable for school teachers teaching class 9 to 12 standards of all boards from the following subjects:

• Science.
• Mathematics.
• Geography.

How to Apply for ISRO Free Online Course?

The course will be conducted from 23 to 27 May 2022, and participants can directly register for the course through the official website, and online classes will be conducted through the IIRS E-CLASS platform. The following steps need to be taken to attend the ISRO free online course:

• The participant will create their account in the IIRS e-learning website and activate the
• account through a link revived in their email.
• The participant will fill the online application and submit a proof of employment.
• The applications will be reviewed by IIRS and eligible applications will be approved.
• On approval of the application, the participant will received admission email with
• login credentials of IIRS E-CLASS platform.
• The participant will join the daily session as per published course schedule. The
• attendance of the participant will be automatically recorded by the system.
• The participant will submit course feedback through a link available in E-CLASS platform.
