ISRO Invites Applications from Students for Free Three Day Course on Space Awareness

ISRO has invited applications from students for a free three day on space situational awareness and space traffic management. The course will be conducted at ISRO headquarters in Bangalore on 12, 12 and 14 October 2023, and will consist of interactional sessions with ISRO scientists. While the course is aimed at interested Indian students, applications are also being accepted from researchers and faculty members working in the same field.

ISRO says that the course is being offered as space situational awareness and space traffic management is a crucial aspect for any students, company, agency or startup that is hoping to work in the field of space science. The subject involves human expertise and dedicated observational facilities such as radars, telescopes, and space-based platforms for precise orbital information of space objects and guidelines.

Who Can Apply for ISRO Free Course?

The official website says that applications will accepted from Indian nationals who are pursuing the following courses from colleges, universities or institutes in India:

  • BE or BTech students studying in 4th year or above.
  • ME, MTech or MSc students belonging to all branches.
  • Full time or part time PhD students or research scholars pursuing research in space related areas, mathematics, physical sciences, and engineering and technology of affiliated institutes or universities.
  • Faculty members of Indian academic institutes.

A total of 200 seats are available under the three day course, and an online quiz may be conducted to select the participants for the course. Apart from the quiz, the academic performance of the student will also be taken into account for the selection process.

An online quiz will be conducted in the first week of September and registered students will receive the quiz on their email address with a password for the quiz that will be in addition to the login credential. There will be 20 questions on general awareness about space and space situational awareness that needs to be submitted within ten minutes.
