ISRO Announces Free Online Course for School Students, Certificates to be Given

ISRO has invited applications from school students from India and abroad to take a free online course on remote sensing. The course called “Remote Sensing for Natural Resource Studies” is open to interested students from classes 9 to 12 from any school in India or abroad. The course, ISRO says, is being offered as the topic has attracted the attention of students and young generation to build their career in this advanced domain of remote sensing and its applications.

The massive open online course is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Remote Sensing (IIRS), a centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation. The primary objective of this online course is to foster a comprehensive understanding of remote sensing technology among school students. Through engaging and informative sessions, the esteemed space scientists will share their in-depth knowledge and expertise, enlightening the students about the potential of remote sensing technology.

How to Register for ISRO Free Online Course?

Interested participants will have to do the following to register for the course:

  • Students will first have to register for the course through the official website.
  • Upon successful registration and activation of the account, students will receive their login credentials for e-class learning management system (LMS) through email.
  • A discussion forum will be available on which students can post any doubts or queries.
  • The course will be conducted for 12 to 23 June.

How to get Certificates for ISRO Free Online Course?

During the course 20 online video sessions will be conducted, which students can watch multiple times. Students’ attendance for the session will be marked by the system based on the video logs. After watching the video session, students will have to participate in the quiz assessment available in the LMS. All the technical sessions and learning resources will be available till 7 July in students’ accounts. 

The course participation certificate will be awarded from IIRS ISRO based on students’ attendance in technical sessions and the score obtained in online quiz assessment. The notification mentions that a minimum of 60% score in quiz and 70% attendance in video sessions will be required to get course participation certificate from ISRO.
