Saumil Dhru, COO and CTO, Arya Omnitalk, tells us more. Excerpts from an interview:

DQ: What are the challenges faced today while preparing for the ever-evolving requirement of the fleet management industry?

Saumil Dhru: The fleet management market is evolving rapidly, and the industry's demand for features is extremely high. However, while these demands continue to grow, the industry is reluctant to invest in the necessary services or devices, often neglecting the quality aspect.

Fleet management should be viewed as a service industry, but many buyers and some suppliers treat it as a product-focused industry. Once the sale is made, there is often little follow-up service provided, leading to dissatisfaction among buyers. This lack of ongoing support tarnishes the reputation of serious players in the market.

Overall, both suppliers and buyers have a skewed perception of the industry, failing to recognize the true value of the solutions offered. Instead, they tend to treat these offerings as commodities, which ultimately hinders the growth and success of the industry.

DQ: How can Arya Omnitalk’s comprehensive suite of fleet management tools enhance fleet operations, safety and achieve greater profitability?

Saumil Dhru: The Arya Omnitalk fleet management solution addresses three key requirements: operations, safety, and profitability. In terms of operations, the solution offers tools that allow transporters to optimize their trips, vehicle utilization, and delivery times, ultimately enhancing their overall operations.

Regarding safety, the solution provides various alerts related to issues such as speeding, excessive idling, harsh braking, and harsh acceleration. These features can be utilized to enhance driver safety, including real-time alerts for driver fatigue and inattention while driving.

For profitability, we offer insights into fuel consumption. For those interested in added value, we can provide fuel sensors. Additionally, we deliver utilization reports, allowing users to track the number of trips taken (both loaded and unloaded) and assess delivery accuracy, all of which contribute to increased profitability.

DQ: Through the Autotrax 65 AIS 140, how can reports on vehicle performance and driver behavior optimize operations, reduce costs, and enhance efficiency?

Saumil Dhru: We already have several versions of the AIS140 model, with the latest version being 7A. These devices are designed with a dual profile and embedded SIM cards, ensuring constant coverage. They feature an accelerometer and a gyroscope, which will capture harsh acceleration, sharp braking, and tight U-turns.

This functionality also allows for monitoring driver behavior, including how many times the driver exceeds the speed limit and how often they exhibit harsh acceleration. In terms of performance, the AIS 140 device provides the vehicle’s location every 10 seconds. When the vehicle is stationary, it reduces the update rate to conserve battery life.

As a result, transporters receive consistent updates on the vehicle's position, enabling them to optimize vehicle performance. Although there is no direct correlation between using these devices and reducing costs, transporters can leverage the reports generated to indirectly lower their transportation expenses and improve efficiency.

DQ: How can one with the help of geofencing, transport authorities and fleet operators gain insights into vehicle performance, driver behaviour, fuel consumption, and route efficiency?

Saumil Dhru: By utilizing geofencing technology, you can gain valuable insights into vehicle performance, driver behavior, fuel consumption, and route efficiency. This is achieved by creating virtual boundaries around specific areas and monitoring when vehicles enter or exit these zones.

The analysis includes factors such as speed, idling time, distance traveled within designated zones, and overall route adherence, providing crucial data on driver habits and vehicle performance in particular geographical contexts.

Our models, such as the Autotrax 65 and 7A, ensure constant coverage through embedded SIM card connections. With features like an accelerometer and gyroscope, we can capture instances of harsh acceleration, sharp braking, and tight U-turns. This functionality also allows us to monitor driver behavior, including how often a driver exceeds the speed limit and how frequently they demonstrate harsh acceleration.

In terms of performance, the AIS 140 device reports the vehicle's location every 10 seconds. When the vehicle is stationary, the update rate is reduced to conserve battery life. As a result, transporters receive consistent updates on the vehicle's position, enabling them to optimize performance. The Arya Omnitalk fleet management solution allows transporters to enhance trip efficiency, vehicle utilization, and delivery times, ultimately improving overall operations.
