International Women’s Day 2023: Here’s How a Woman is Transforming Akasa Air

International Women’s Day is being celebrated across the world, and its is time to celebrate women who have truly broken the glass ceiling. For a woman to make it to the top in male dominated industries is by no means an easy task, and the airline industry is one such space. When women consider a career in Airline Industry they are mostly suggested about the hospitality and front end part of it. However, Pushpa Narayan, GM IT, Akasa Air is truly unique in this aspect.

Pushpa has set an example that women can actually be the backbone of the Aviation Industry, and keep the mission critical systems and IT infrastructure running to ensure all aspects of the Airline Industry are functioning smoothly. Pushpa is a senior IT professional with a demonstrated history of working in the Airline industry for over 2 decades.

Pushpa has extensive experience in implementing and supporting core airline business applications in the areas of airport services, flight operations, flight planning, operations control, cargo operations, revenue accounting, revenue management, and engineering and maintenance among others.

Prior to Akasa Air, Pushpa has been associated with SpiceJet and Jet Airways. Apart from the aviation industry, Pushpa also has experience in the manufacturing industries like fertilizers, chemical and paints. On the occasion of International Women’s Day, she caught up with Dataquest and spoke about a range of topics such as:

Pushpa spoke about how Akasa Air encourages women, and supports them in having a career as well as a family life. “My family understands that my job role demands a certain amount of commitment from my end and truly supports me there, and my organisation Akasa Air understands that I need to dedicate a certain amount of time to my family and is accommodating. This is how I’m able to maintain a healthy work-life balance,” said Pushpa.
