Australian Football Google AI

Google powers a free AI platform, Footy Skills Lab, to help upcoming and enthusiastic Australian Football players in the country and around the world learn the skills from their smartphone. The AI platform, Footy Skills Lab, will improve skills through ball handling, decision making and kicking across three difficulty levels.

Tayla Harris, an AFLW Player, Australian Champion Boxer, is the Brand Ambassador for Google. She states in a company blog about the partnership with Google to improve access to Aussie Rules coaching and participation irrespective of ability, gender, location, culture or socio-economic background.

Through the AI-powered platform, participants can get tips from Tayla Harrison kicking. Additionally, they can also receive tips on ball-handling and decision making from athletes across AFLW and AFL Wheelchair competitions. Players with visual and hearing needs can access the tips through audio prompts and closed captioning. Once the activity is done, the players get a scorecard, that can be shared with coaches and family.
