How much importance are transliteration tools gaining in India and across
the world?
Transliteration tools have made their presence for quite some time, but they
all were rule-based transliteration. For instance, there is only one D
alphabet in English keyboard, but when it comes to Indian and other local
languages, there are variables of this particular alphabet. There are
transliteration tools in India, but we have come up with an intelligent
transliteration toolThe Quillpad. Some data and research suggests that
transliteration tools are gaining much importance in countries where
multi-language exists.

What value proposition does your product offer?
The best part about Quillpad is that it can phonetically correct the word and
give the exact word while typing. The product gives 100% accuracy if the user
knows how to type. Technically, it is far more efficient than Google Indics
transliteration tool. In Google Indic, the user has to press space after each
word in order to get the desired word in a particulard language. However, in
Quillpad, the user gets a smooth typing experience where each alphabet is
converted into the users specific language rather than the word itself. One of
the additional things we are planning is to make this tool for users accessible
not only online, but offline as well. Innovation is the only way through which
small companies can compete with giants in the industry and succeed in their
goals.
What are the major challenges you face, especially when the user does not
know English?
Knowing English language is different from knowing English alphabets. Now that
we are launching our Quillpad application in mobile phones, and considering the
number of users of mobile phones in India, we have devised a format where users
who are familiar with just English alphabets can type. This allows to convert
into their local language or mother tongue. Another big challenge is to get such
intelligent systems to work on mobile devices and we hope that things will.
What is your business model?
We have licensed our technology to Rediff, Indiatimes, LG, and others. We now
want to shift our focus to the consumer space, since we have been receiving a
positive feedback. Consumers are willing to pay for the Quillpad application for
their desktops. Going forward, we are likely to see a similar trend to happen in
the mobile space as well. We are also working with few OEMs.
