Infy Becomes Oracles Diamond Level Partner

Infosys Technologies has come under the category of highest ranking partners of Oracle, called Diamond Level, a distinction that recognizes Infosys expertise of Oracle solutions, and its ability to consult and deploy Oracle technologies for clients globally. Infosys was one of the only two partners to qualify for the highest ranking Diamond distinction. With 25,000 Oracle consultants worldwide, Infosys invested significantly in delivering both broad and deep levels of expertise across core Oracle technologies in twenty specializations across Oracles extensive product portfolio. In addition, Infosys invested in advanced specializations, which require a minimum of fifty certified implementation specialists, five of which are required for Diamond Level recognition. Besides, Infosys had recently opened the Infosys-Oracle solution center on Oracles Redwood Shores global headquarters campus which was developed to conceptualize, showcase, and demonstrate leading solutions for joint clients and how they would benefit their specific environments and business requirements.

BEE to Rate Computer Data Centers from 2011

The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) will start rating, from the next year, the energy guzzling computer data centers that host companies networking equipment and applications, on the basis of their efficiency. The BEE under the power ministry and Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) along with the software giants like Wipro and Infosys, is developing a system to measure the data centers. The data centers would be measurable which means how much the center can consume beyond their data storage. They will then be rated as Silver, Gold or Platinum, depending on their consumption capacity.

Cognizant, Microsoft in Cloud Computing Partnership

Cognizant has joined hands with Microsoft to develop cloud computing solutions. As part of this program, Cognizant has set up an Octane Solution Center to accelerate development of cloud enabled solutions, which will be jointly funded. The partnership will facilitate collaboration between customers and senior business technology specialists, solution architects, security experts, and management professionals. Cognizant will provide services, including consulting, solution accelerators, and technology management, while Microsoft will offer cloud enabling technologies such as Azure.

Nokia Siemens and Capgemini Signs Contract

Nokia Siemens Networks has decided to outsource its global order management operations to Capgemini. Under the terms of the agreement, close to 400 employees from Nokia Siemens Networks would be joining Capgemini BPO supply chain services teams from several countries including Brazil, China, Finland, Germany, and India. In addition, more than 300 contractors to Nokia Siemens Networks will continue to work under Capgeminis management.

UKs Capita Looks to India for IT Support

UKs top back office provider Capita has decided to use India as an offshoring base for its new IT business. Capita recently diversified from its traditional back office business into IT, and has decided to hire people in India for IT application development and maintenance work. Capita intends to employ 300-400 people, representing around 10% of its workforce in IT across Pune and Mumbai, by the year end. It has hired, Manpreet Singh, a former Sr. VP with the Vertex group, to head the IT operations.

Virginia Tech to Set Up Three Centers in TN

Virginia Tech University, one of the oldest in the US, plans to set up three centres of excellence near Chennai. The varsity has already acquired land for this purpose. Virginia Tech has found an Indian partner for these three centers, namely, Centre for Critical, Technical and Advanced Science, Virginia Bio Informatics Center and Virginia Transport and Technical Institute. All centers are likely to be operational within a year.
