Infosys Lands $2 Billion Deal for AI and Automation Services

Infosys, the second-largest exporter of software services from India, has signed a new contract to supply automation and artificial intelligence (AI) services over five years to an undisclosed client. The acquisition is anticipated to cost $2 billion in total.

According to a file the corporation made with the exchange, the agreement's scope involves the creation, advancement, and upkeep of automation and artificial intelligence services.

India's increasing expertise in AI

The success of Microsoft-backed OpenAI's generative chatbot, ChatGPT, in late 2022 exemplifies how this move by Infosys fits with the growing global focus on AI investment. Companies are increasing their investments in AI technologies in response to this trend.

While Wipro promises to invest $1 billion in AI over the next three years, Infosys rival Tata Consultancy Services has announced intentions to train 25,000 engineers to become certified on Microsoft's Azure Open AI platform. A platform called Infosys Topaz, which focuses on generative AI, was unveiled by Bengaluru-based Infosys at the end of May.

A platform uses the applied AI framework of Infosys, which it calls Topaz, to create an AI-first core. The platform hopes to accelerate commercial value for multinational corporations through generative AI while empowering individuals to offer cognitive solutions. Topaz uses the potential of people, businesses, and communities to take advantage of opportunities brought forth by ground-breaking innovations, interconnected ecosystems, and increased productivity.

The business strongly emphasises a "responsible by design" strategy, prioritising ethics, trust, privacy, security, and compliance. Topaz delivers AI-powered solutions and logical experiences by combining the Infosys Cobalt cloud with data analytics to enhance corporate development.

Topaz is quite popular among Indian companies

Infosys uses successful case examples to highlight Topaz's potential. For instance, a food and beverage chain used the platform to automatically connect various data signals from new partners, producing a superior off-store consumer experience with over 95% accuracy.

A national railway business also used Topaz to create a smart hub, enabling collaboration with the finest partners for tasks like first- and last-mile logistics, allowing for the profitable establishment of agile value chains. Topaz's overall goal is to unleash the transformative power of AI for organisations operating in various industries.
