Advertisment

US federal authorities have busted an international child porn site and
arrested more than fifty people across fifty states. Federal prosecutors are
working with international police to investigate suspects in a child pornography
social networking site that boasted more than 1,000 members who used to
exchange explicit images. The investigation, which had begun in 2008, is also
looking into the extradition of several foreign suspects, including the alleged
ringleader, Delwin Savigar, who is incarcerated in an English jail for sexually
assaulting three underage girls. Savigar had created a website where members
could freely browse millions of explicit images and share their fantasies about
having sex with children, and also shared advice on how to hoodwink the
authorities to escape prosecution.

Moms Simple Phone Call

A simple phone call from your mother can calm frayed nerves by sparking the
release of a powerful stress quelling hormone, says a recent research.
Biological anthropologist, Leslie Seltzer from the University of
WisconsinMadison tested a group of seven to twelve year old girls with an
impromptu speech and series of math problems in front of a panel of strangers,
sending their hearts racing and levels of cortisola hormone associated with
stress soaring. It was mom on the line and the effect was dramatic. The
children, who got to interact with their mothers, had virtually the same
hormonal response, whether they interacted in person or over the phone, Seltzer
says.

A BPO Center Behind the Bars

It is this sense of responsibility towards the society that made Radiant
Info Systems, an outsourcing company, to give an occupation to those who are
behind the bars. As part of this public-private experiment, the outsourcing
company that has Royal Bank of Scotland and Goldman Sachs as its clients, would
employ inmates at the Cherlapally Central Jail in Hyderabad to help process bank
paperwork. Though, in the beginning, the BPO behind the bars will process the
works of Indian clients, Radiant has plans to expand the service to customers
overseas. The company said there is no security risk in prisoners doing the BPO
job as they will not have access to sensitive information including passwords
and bank accounts. However, those who are jailed for fraud or robbery are not
eligible for the work.
