The Indian Government will recruit over 10 lakh people in India within the next 1.5 years. Prime minister Narendra Modi, who reviewed the the status of human resources in all departments and ministries of the Government of India, has instructed that the recruitment of 10 lakh people should be done by the Government in mission mode in the next 1.5 years. This decision has been made by the official handle of the Prime Minister’s Office on Twitter.

This decision has been announced on the backdrop of the opposing parties accusing the Government of India that not enough measures are being taken to improve the job scenario in India. Varun Gandhi, member of parliament, had recently slammed the Government of India over “60 lakh” government jobs lying vacant. “When unemployment is at its highest level in 3 decades then these statistics are startling. While crores of youth are frustrated and disappointed due to non-availability of recruitments, there are 60 lakh 'sanctioned posts' vacant in the country if 'government figures' are to be believed. Where did the budget that was allocated for these posts go?” He had tweeted along with a picture that claims that the central ministry and public sector banks had the most number of vacancies.

However, on another note, various media reports claim that the vacancies are available in both the organised and unorganised sectors in the Indian Government. Some of the departments that are looking to hire employees are Indian Railways, educational institutes such as IITs, IIMs, IIITs and NITs, Indian army, Central and state police and lower and higher courts among others.
