Indian Government has announced the launch of a dedicated WhatsApp helpline number to address queries that the citizens may have regarding the COVID-19 vaccine in India. To get their doubts answered, citizens of the country just have to chat with MyGov Corona Helpdesk on the number 9013151515.

“All your Vaccine queries answered on MyGovIndia Corona Helpdesk on WhatsApp. Text your query to 9013151515 and get answers,” tweeted Abhishek Singh, CEO of MyGov and NeGD, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology along with sample questions that the chatbot can attempt to answer.

  • What is the eligibility criterion to receive the vaccination?
  • How will I receive the COVID-19 Vaccine?
  • Is vaccination mandatory? If so, what if I don't want to take the vaccine?
  • Where can I report side effects (if any) of the vaccine?
  • If the vaccine causes any side effects will I get medical treatment free of cost?
  • If I had COVID-19 but have recovered now, do I still need to get vaccinated?

There are several other queries including ones on COVID-19 vaccine registration, and the CoWin software that the chatbot can answer. The criteria for administration of COVID 19 vaccination has been devised based on groups who are most at risk of exposure or developing serious illnesses. The first prioritised group is healthcare and frontline workers, followed by persons over 50 years of age and persons under 50 years with co-morbid conditions.
