Indian Government to Come Out With Guidelines for Machine to Machine Communication: Anshu Prakash

While addressing the Voice&Data 20th Telecom Leadership Forum, Anshu Prakash, Chairman DCC and Telecom Secretary, Department of Telecommunications (DoT) made a revelation that the Government of India will soon come out with guidelines for Machine to Machine Communication (M2M) after holding an interface with the industry, and seeking its feedback on the draft guidelines.

DoT secretary added that due to the increase in M2M communication with the advent of emerging technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), it has become imperative for the country to draft new frameworks and regulations to deal with it. This announcement was made at the Telecom Leadership Forum which is being held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Apart from Anshu Prakash, the event is being addressed by leading industry personalities and other dignitaries from the Government of India namely Sanjay Kaul, president APAC & Japan, service providers business, Cisco; KG Purushothaman, partner and national sector leader, telecommunications, KPMG; Manoj Kohli, country head, Softbank India; Prof Bhaskar Ramamurthi, director, IIT Madras; Dr. RS Sharma, CEO of National Health Authority and head of the empowered group on COVID-19 vaccinations; Jagbir SIngh, CTO, Vodafone Idea; and other notable personalities.

The event is being supported by Cisco as the presenting partner and is powered by HPE-PC Solutions. The event gold partners include Sterlite Technologies, Comviva, Accenture, Ciena, and has support from industry associations Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), Broadband India Forum (BIF), CMAI, ICEA, ITU-APT, TAIPA, and TEMA. Post the conference, Voice&Data TLF Award 2020 was presented across four categories namely V&D Telecom Person of the Year Award, V&D Lifetime Achievement Award, V&D Phoenix Award, and the V&D Special Jury Award.
