India has ranked 2nd on the list of countries distributing spam across the world, after United States. a new report has claimed.
While the US was the single highest-ranking country in the study, Asia topped the list with 36.6% of the world's spam accounted for.
In the later half of 2012, China was leading the way but has now fallen back to 3rd, with India leapfroging to the 2nd place.
Us is still firmly on the top, distributing more spam than any other country in the world, clocking at a respectable 18.3% of junk email sent.
Nearly 7.70 percent of spam was being sent from India, and the country has ranked seccond in the list of spam sending countries.
As per Trend Micro reports, 1.75 percent of the computer users in India were accessing Bonet connected servers. As a result, the Android users from India are prone to risks of privacy exposure by downloading fake versions of popular apps.
"countries at a high risk of downloading malicious apps include Asia, Myanmar and India. India stands fifth with 34.94 percent of downloading battery draining app volumes," said Trend Micro in a statement.
According to Amit Nath, country manager, India and Saarc, Trend Micro, "Android users from India are acutely exposed to the risk of privacy exposure. This might have been due to the fact that almost all of the mobile users in the country take notice of mobile ads, which could have prompted dubious developers to create apps with aggressive advertising features."
Trend Micro however found out that India is showing improvements in curbing the malware such as banking Trojans and spam botnets. In the earlier reports, India's share in the Global spam statistics was at alarming 12 percent and topped the list as the most spam sending nation in the world.
