IIT Ropar, through iHub Agriculture and Water Technology Development Hub (AWaDH), has invited applications for an online course on Artificial Intelligence and Cyber-Physical Systems for Agriculture Automation. The course will be conducted from 2 June to 16 July 2021. The course is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students of any branch of engineering as well as professionals from the industry. However, attendees are required to have minimum programming experience in any language such as C, C++, Java or Python.


The course will be conducted by IIT Ropar faculty, and the course coordinator is Prof Neeraj Goel, who is the assistant professor, department of computer science and engineering domain head - precision agriculture, iHub - AWaDH, IIT Ropar. The course consists of 40 hours of lectures by experts of the field, 40 to 60 hours of lab in live interaction format, and 60 hours of capstone project in the guidance of a faculty member.

What the IIT Ropar Online Course Will Cover

The course aims at providing the necessary interdisciplinary background required to build an end-to-end system, including programming, embedded systems, data sciences, machine learning, deep learning, communication technologies, and android programming through the following topics:

  • Introduction to cyber-physical systems and its application to precision agriculture.
  • Embedded C programming with focus on interrupts, input/output and delay function.
  • Basic Python using libraries in python.
  • Basic Data formats, databases and operations.
  • Statistics and probability basics, regression and correlation.
  • Machine learning basic techniques, regression, clustering. Training and validation.
  • Deep learning basics artificial neural networks, deep neural networks.
  • Embedded development boards, sensors and their interfacing.
  • Communication using WIFI, Bluetooth, WANs.
  • Server client programming.
  • Basic android app development.
  • Android app demo: case study, and much more.

Interested students may submit online applications, and after the screening of applicants, an offer letter will be sent to selected students. Full fee of Rs 8500 needs to be paid by students.
