IIT Palakkad Invites Applications from Students for Free Online Course on Artificial Intelligence

IIT Palakkad is offering a free online course on artificial intelligence on the NPTEL platform that can be completed in 12 weeks

IIT Palakkad has invited applications from students for a 12 week free online on artificial intelligence on the Swayam NPTEL platform. The course, called applied accelerated artificial intelligence, will cover the fundamentals of the compute capabilities and the system software required for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) based solutions on industrial use cases such as the ones in the domains of healthcare and smart city. Participants who complete the course successfully and take an examination by paying Rs 1000 will also be given certificates.

The course will be conducted by Prof Satyajit Das an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, IIT Palakkad, Prof Satyadhyan Chickerura professor at the School of Computer Science and Engineering and head of Centre for High Performance Computing at KLE Technological University, Hubli, Prof Bharatkumar who is currently working with NVIDIA as a senior solutions architect, South Asia, Prof Tosin Adesuyi who works at the Department of Computer and Software Engineering, Kumoh National Institute of Technology, and Prof Ashrut Ambastha who is a principal engineer at NVIDIA working on networking fabric for HPC clusters and AI datacenters.

Who Can Take the IIT Palakkad Free Online Course on Artificial Intelligence?

The course would require participants to have knowledge of computer organization, high-performance computing, machine learning and deep learning. The following participants would benefit from the course:

• PhD scholars from any stream of science or engineering.
• Postgraduate students from any stream of science or engineering.
• Third or fourth year undergraduate students from any stream of science or engineering.
• Non-students and working professionals may also apply.

What the IIT Palakkad Free Online Course on Artificial Intelligence Will Cover?

The course will discuss end to end deployments of two industrial use cases with demonstration, and hence will help participants use state-of-the-art artificial intelligence SDKs effectively to solve complex problems. Some of the topics that will be covered are as follows: 

• Introduction to AI system hardware.
• Introduction to system software operating system.
• Introduction to containers and IDE.
• Frameworks for accelerated deep learning workloads.
• Fundamentals of distributed AI computing, and so on.

Important Dates of the IIT Palakkad Free Online Course on Artificial Intelligence

Interested and eligible students will have to enrol on the official website before 1 August 2022, and the course will be conducted from 25 July to 14 October 2022. The exam will be conducted on 29 October 2022, and the course also carries 3 credit points.
