In 2024, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) intends to incubate at least 100 start-ups from various sectors. Professor V Kamakoti, director of IIT Madras, indicated they are looking forward to creating a new school on transdisciplinary sciences in 2024. "We are also excited to open a new school of interdisciplinary sciences." It is critical since we are heading towards transdisciplinary education. We also want to end the fiscal year with the most projects possible," the director stated.

The new initiatives strive to help the nation. These start-ups will produce products of critical national value. According to an official release, the IIT Madras Incubation Cell (IITMIC), recognised as one of India's top deep-tech start-up ecosystems, is the institute's umbrella body for developing, supporting, and managing numerous innovation and entrepreneurship projects. The director added, "In the past year, we took up several important projects, including IIT Madras Zanzibar Campus, which became the first-ever IIT to be established overseas, launched a Department of Medical Sciences and Technology, and are aspiring to do many more things in this direction."
