IIT Madras Launches New BS in Electronic Systems, Class 12 Students Can Apply

IIT Madras announces BS in electronic systems with multiple exit options for students who wish to leave with certificate, diploma or degree

IIT Madras has announced a four-year Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in electronic systems, which was inaugurated by Dharmendra Pradhan, education minister, Government of India. Similar to IIT Madras’ BS degree in data science, the program features multiple exits and the students can get a foundational level certificate, diploma or BS degree based on when they exit the program.

The content of the course will be delivered by experienced IIT Madras faculty and industry experts, and contents of the course can be accessed from anywhere by students. The course focuses on electronics, embedded programming, digital systems, and control engineering. The students will be able to apply the acquired engineering principles and knowledge to implement and improve systems and processes for applications.

Who Can Apply for the IIT Madras BS in Electronic Systems?

The course is open to anyone who has passed Class 12 or equivalent in any year with physics and mathematics. Additionally, school students who have appeared for their class 11 final exams with physics and mathematics as their subjects of study can apply. Those who qualify can join the program after passing class 12. Content, tutorials, doubt clearing sessions and assignments will be online, while quizzes, exams and laboratory sessions will be conducted in-person.

How to Qualify for the IIT Madras BS in Electronic Systems?

To qualify for the program, participants must finish four weeks of coursework and assignments. Students who achieve the minimum required scores on their weekly assignments over the four-week period will be eligible to take the Qualifier Exam, which covers the material from the past four weeks. Those who pass the Qualifier Exam with the minimum required score will be able to continue with the program. If a student does not pass the Qualifier Exam, they are encouraged to retake the exam to qualify for the program.
