IIT Madras Invites Applications from Women for Data Science Internship with Stipend of Rs 40,000

IIT Madras is currently accepting applications from women for a two year data science internship wherein selected candidates will be engaged at the Robert Bosch Centre for Data Science and AI (RBCDSAI). IIT Madras says that the opportunity, called Women Post Baccalaureate Fellowship, is a great opportunity for women who are desirous of pursuing a 1 to 2 year research internship in the areas of data science and artificial intelligence.

The initial stipend for the selected candidates starts at Rs 40,000 per month and depends on the experience and qualification of the candidate. In addition to this, the renewal of the fellowship depends on the performance of the candidate, which will be reviewed by a committee. Since the position is categorized as Project Staff under a project, every candidate selected for the data science internship is provided with health insurance as well as library privileges inside IIT Madras.

Who Can Apply for the IIT Madras Data Science Internship for Women?

The opportunity is open to participants with the following qualifications:

• Graduates and postgraduates with an exceptional academic record.
• The candidate should have a 4 year bachelors or a masters degree in areas relevant to RBCDSAI.
• The candidate should be under 28 years of age as on 31 March 2022.
• Should be available full time to do the project as the candidate is expected to accept the offer immediately, and provide a joining date within 6 weeks from the date of receiving the offer letter.

Maternity Benefits for Women doing IIT Madras Data Science Internship

Women fellows would be eligible for maternity leave as per the Government of India norms subject to the following:

• The selected interns should have rendered at least 9 months service prior to proceeding on maternity leave.
• The project duration or service after rejoining from maternity leave should not be less than one year.
• The maternity leave will only be sanctioned after relevant documents or certificates are submitted. 
• Salary for the maternity leave period will only be paid after the intern rejoins from the leave.
