IIT Kharagpur Invites Registrations for National Level Online Agri-Food Techathon

IIT Kharagpur has invited registrations from interested individuals and organisations for an online agri-food techathon, which is a national level online technical fest to exhibit and depict creativity, problem-solving, and prototyping-skills of university or college students, entrepreneurs and rural youths in the different domain of Agri-Food sector.

The event, called Agri-Food Techathon (AFT 2021), is being organised by the Agri Business Incubation Centre (ABIC), IIT Kharagpur, in association with its Agricultural and Food Engineering Department, Centre for Rural Development and Innovative Sustainable Technologies and Rajendra Mishra School of Engineering Entrepreneurship, is organizing. Those who wish to take part in the event would be required to register before 7 January 2021.

The event aims at providing participants with orientation and exposure to innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities in the Agriculture and Food Technology sector, to the aspiring entrepreneurs, through a series of expert lectures and guest talks by successful Agritech startups. Furthermore, the event includes a competitive B-plan submission for the participants, says the official website. Experts from the industry involved in key domains of agriculture and food technology will be assigned as panelists and mentors.

Upon screening and the first round of B-plan presentation, selected teams will be assigned expert mentors as per their domain area in order to provide guidance on product and business development. The final presentation will be used to select high potential teams for formal association with ABIC IIT Kharagpur. Those selected will be offered assistance the following ways:

  • Technology and business development mentorship,
  • R&D support and access to laboratory,
  • Workshop,
  • Pilot plant access and funding opportunities through potential investors or accelerators.

Those who wish to attend the event will have to submit a form before 7 January 2021. The name and photo associated with the applicant’s Google account will be recorded when uploading files and submitting the form.
