IIT Kanpur has launched a new eMasters Program in Cybersecurity for working professionals looking to build deep domain knowledge

IIT Kanpur has invited applications for a new eMasters Program in Cybersecurity for working professionals looking to build capabilities for an evolving threat landscape. The program has been launched along with three other eMasters program namely Communication Systems, Derivatives Market and Risk Management, and Power Sector Regulations and Economics. The course does not need any GATE score, and participants will receive IIT Kanpur alumni status with access to all the alumni privileges.

The eMasters course can be completed in one to three years, and weekend-only live interactive sessions coupled with self-paced learning will be offered to make the program friendly for working professionals. The IIT Kanpur eMasters program will train participants in the latest tools and technologies, techniques, and concepts in Cybersecurity. The final module-level exams will be conducted across major cities in India such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, and Chandigarh among others.

The course aims at helping professionals to navigate the changing landscape of Cybersecurity, and some of the topics that will be covered as follows:

  • Introduction to cryptography.
  • Operating system principles.
  • Computer networking I.
  • Introduction to application security, mobile security, and critical infrastructure security.
  • Machine learning for cybersecurity.
  • Introduction to web security, network security and defenses.
  • Computational number theory for cryptographers.
  • Advanced critical infrastructure security.
  • Introduction to blockchain technology.
  • Cyber laws, case studies and trends, and other related topics.

Who Can Apply for IIT Kanpur eMasters Program in Cybersecurity?

The eMasters program is open to the following participants:

  • Those with a Bachelor's Degree of 4 years or a Masters Degree in the relevant discipline with at least 55% marks or 5.5/10 CPI.
  • Applicants need to have a minimum of 2 years of work experience. However, one does not need to be currently employed to be eligible.
  • Candidates with relevant experience will be preferred.

“4 core modules, 3 from one basket of 4 modules and 5 from a basket of 10 modules. One can choose 3 modules each in two quarters, and 2 each in the other two quarters or in any combination of modules that makes a total of 10 modules. However, the core modules must be completed in the first two quarters preferably – 3 modules in the first quarter,” says IIT Kanpur.
