IIT Kanpur is currently accepting applications for a cybersecurity hackathon called HCL Hack IITK, which is open to all students, professionals with up to 3 years experience and young and new startups. The cybersecurity hackathon is designed by professors at the IIT KANPUR C3i Hub, which is one of the top research centers in the world for cybersecurity and cyber physical defense systems. The participating teams will have the opportunity to identify, assess, build and test robust cyber defense solutions to a given practical problem, says the IIT Kanpur website.

Rules of the IIT Kanpur Cybersecurity Hackathon

The cybersecurity hackathon is a team event, and each team can have 2 or 3 members. A single person will not be allowed to participate in the hackathon. Teams must designate a team leader who will get the team registered with correct names and email addresses. The team leader will also have to take a multiple choice question qualifying exams during the qualifying round. All the submitted names should match the names in the photo ID’s that will be asked for during challenge rounds, says the IIT Kanpur website.

How to Register for the IIT Kanpur Cybersecurity Hackathon

The registration for the hackathon will be conducted in three steps,

  1. Interested participants need to first register with the portal by providing email and verifying the email address.
  2. The password will then have to be set.
  3. The team leader will then have to enter again using the register button, sign in to complete the registration form and then assign a unique name to their team.
  4. The team members will then have to complete their registration forms.
  5. There is no registration fee involved.

Prizes for the IIT Kanpur Cybersecurity Hackathon

All participants who complete all rounds will receive a certificate. However, meritorious teams will receive the following prizes:

  • First prize winner will receive Rs 5 lakhs and AWS Credits worth $ 5,000.
  • Second place winner will receive Rs 2.5 lakhs and AWS Credits worth $ 5,000.
  • Third place winner will receive Rs 2.5 lakhs and AWS Credits worth $ 5,000.
  • Top 25 meritorious teams will receive merit certificates.
  • Opportunity to incubate the winning ideas at C3i.
  • Promising startups to get $2500 IBM cloud credits.

Those who are interested to participate need to register for the event before 24 July 2020, and are advised to go through the official website in detail.
