The School of Artificial Intelligence will work on a flexible faculty model, which means it will have core faculty, joint faculty and adjunct faculty members who may also be from the industry. Prof Mausam, School of Artificial Intelligence’s Founding Head said that they were also exploring external partnerships to help shape the school of AI into a world-class entity.

Prof V Ramgopal Rao, Director, IIT Delhi, said that a dedicated program in artificial intelligence is needed because while there is a strong demand all over the world for skilled AI professionals, current degrees are broad-based, and do not make it easy for students to learn the depths of different subfields within AI.
