IIT Bombay has invited applications from students for the FOSSEE Summer Fellowship 2021, which is a 6 to 8 weeks internship program that is held every year at the institute. This year, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the fellowship that was started in the year 2018 will be held online. While any student from any college may apply for the fellowship, applicants will have to learn a Free/Libre and Open Source Software (FLOSS) and complete some screening tasks to get selected.
The FOSSEE project is part of the National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India. This internship is available for the following FLOSS supported by FOSSEE: Scilab, Python, eSim, OpenFOAM, DWSIM, R, and OpenModelica.
Topics for the Screening Task Submission for FOSSEE Summer Fellowship 2021 at IIT Bombay
- Chemical process simulation: Create process flowsheets using DWSIM and OpenModelica.
- eSim on Cloud: Design and develop a web-based Electronic Circuit design and simulator which will be hosted on the cloud.
- Arduino on Cloud: Design and develop a web-based Arduino circuit design and simulator which will be hosted on the cloud.
- FOCAL: Creating graphics and animations using Inkscape, GIMP, Blender, etc.
- Electronic Circuit Simulation (eSim): Simulate circuits using the NGHDL feature.
How to Apply for FOSSEE Summer Fellowship 2021 at IIT Bombay
Students pursuing any year of undergraduation or postgraduation may apply by selecting and submitting one screening task mentioned above before 15 May 2021. The details of each screening task have been provided in the website, and after submission, the entry will be evaluated by the domain experts in the FOSSEE team. Applicants are also required to fill up a Google form before 5 May 2021. The fellowship is likely to commence from 1 June 2021 onwards.
