Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Asia’s first Space University set up by set up by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under the Department of Space, Government of India, is looking to hire engineers for the position of technical assistant (there are two IIST jobs: 1 unreserved and 1 OBC). Working at the highly prestigious university is a dream for several engineers as IIST was established and initiated with the objective of offering high quality education in space science and technology to meet the demands of Indian Space Programme.
Several notable personalities have been associated with the institute and Honorable APJ Abdul Kalam, former President of India, was the Chancellor of IIST. IIST offers graduate, post graduate, doctoral and post-doctoral courses in broad areas of space science, technology and applications, and IIST students have been absorbed by ISRO for various positions.
Who is Eligible for the Current IIST Job Openings
Candidates who hold a first class diploma from a recognized board or university in Electronics Engineering/ Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering/ Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering can apply for the Technical Assistant position for the OBC category, says the IIST notification. An experience in semiconductor device fabrication and testing would be a plus point and the candidate must not exceed 38 years of age as on 18 April 2019.
As far as the Technical Assistant position for the unreserved category is concerned, candidates with first class diploma from a recognized board or university in Computer Engineering/ Computer Hardware Engineering/Computer Application and Business Management/ Electronics and Communication Engineering or equivalent are required to apply. Also, experience in computer system management, Linux, high performance computing system, any Linux certification would be desirable. The age limit for the candidate would be 35 years as on 18 April 2019.
How to Apply Online for the IIST Job Openings for Engineers
The mode of application is online only on the official IIST website, and the process starts from 14 March 2019 to 18 April 2019 until 5:00 PM IST. Only candidates who possess the above mentioned qualifications are required to apply. All intimation will be through e-mail and the official IIST website. Candidates will be selected based on a written and skill test. The written test will be conducted first and short-listing will be done based on the written test scores and required number of candidates. Both theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the subject mentioned above is required, says the notification.
The qualification prescribed is the minimum requirement and possession of the same does not automatically make candidates eligible for written test/skill test. Based on Bio-data initial screening will be done to short list the candidates. Only short-listed candidates will be called for Written Test, clarifies IIST in the notification. Selected candidates will be eligible for a level 7 in the Pay Matrix, which amounts to Rs. 44,900 to Rs. 1,42,400.
