IIM Bangalore has invited interested students to take an online course on Introduction to Retail Management, which is being conducted through Swayam, started by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD). Upon successfully completing the course and clearing the exam, learners will also receive a certificate.
The online course is being conducted by Dr. Ashis Mishra a faculty member in the Marketing Area at the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB). Dr. Mishra specializes and teaches marketing management and retail management, and has published over 10 papers in various national and international journals of repute.
Who can take the IIM Bangalore Course on Retail Management?
This is a postgraduate level course, pertaining to management studies. The course, which is 6 weeks long, aims to introduce the basic concepts of retailing to the participant students. Some of the concepts that would be covered under the course would be the following: What is retailing, How does retail business work, Characteristics of Retail Business, Roles and Responsibilities in Retail Business, Philosophy of retail formats classification, Various basis of classification of retail formats, Strategy mix based classification, and so on.
Students who undertake this course will get an understanding of the retail business model for brick and mortar formats, various constituents of retail strategy, awareness on how to develop and sustain a competitive advantage in the retail sector, and practical tools and techniques of retail strategy.
How to Obtain Certificate for the IIM Bangalore Course on Retail Management?
Students will first have to attend the 6-week course and complete the weekly assignments that are provided. A weightage o 25% for weekly assignments and 75% for the final exam will be given to provide the certification. Only candidates who score a minimum of 40% in the weekly assessment and a minimum of 40% in the final exam will be eligible to receive the certificate. The exam will be conducted on 7 November 2020
