IIIT Hyderabad Invites Applications for Online Course on Cybersecurity, Participants to Receive Certificates

IIIT Hyderabad has invited applications from interested students for a four-week long online course in cybersecurity, for which it has partnered with Conduira Online. The program aims at equipping learners with knowledge on the fundamentals of software-defined networks (SDN) and blockchain. By the end of the course students will also be given an in-depth understanding and field-level experience in these cutting-edge technologies, says the institute.

Top 15 students will be given merit certificates, and will also be invited to IIIT Hyderabad to meet the professors and get a firsthand experience of the cutting-edge research work that is taking place at the institute. The course will be conducted by Prof Ashok Kumar Das and Dr Ankit Gangwal who are professors at IIIT Hyderabad. The sessions will be live; however, recorded videos will be delivered to participants.

What the IIIT Hyderabad Online Course on Cybersecurity Will Cover

The course, which requires for participants to have a basic knowledge of computer programming and working knowledge of computer software and hardware, will cover the following topics over a period of four weeks:

• Fundamentals of cryptography and cryptology.
• Expertise in symmetric and public-key cryptosystems including case studies.
• Elliptic curve cryptography, message authentication code, hash function and digital signatures.
• Fundamentals of software-defined networking (SDN), IoT and Blockchain.
• Project Work: Understand SDN, OpenFlow, and Mininet emulator, Security verification using AVISPA, and Client-server programming for security protocol implementation.

Applicants will be evaluated based on their understanding of theoretical aspects, practical application, and project work. Merit certificates will be awarded to those who secure over 85 percent marks, those who obtain over 70 percent marks will be given a completion certificate, and those who obtain over 60 percent marks will be given participation certificates.
