New Update

The India IDC PC market shipments for Q3 2012 (July-Sep) are out. And there is a bad news for HP. Lenovo has dethroned it in a race to claim the top PC maker title in India. The latest figures by IDC clearly question the objections which HP had raised on Gartner's Q2 figures. Gartner had placed Lenove on top in its Q2 figures which infuriated HP to the extent that it refused to validate the figures and rather quoted IDC to state its stand.

But now when IDC figures, though in Q3, place Lenovo on top of HP, it is clear as to who is ruling the PC market in the sub-continent. Maybe, it is an alarm for the company to realign its strategy and focus on the customers in more innovative ways. The charm it used to have seems to be fading.

The India PC market shipments for Q3 2012 (July - Sep) stood at 2.99 mn units i.e. a sequential gain of 4.9% over the previous quarter while the year-on-year drop was noted to be at 5.4%.

In terms of vendor share, Lenovo sustained its lead with a 16.9% market share in Q3 2012. HP took the second place with a 15.6% share, closely followed by Acer with a share of 15.5% in Q3 2012.
