On

the importance of the five million figure

Advertisment

I don’t think the five-million figure is a landmark achievement, but it’s

substantial–especially in the Asia-Pacific region–that after China and

Australia, India became the third country to have that kind of numbers. My

personal opinion is that once you reach the 10-million mark, that will be a

landmark and I feel that in the next three years we should be able to achieve

that number.

On the future of the PC

The PC is going to be there for the next 20 years, either in the form of a

desktop PC or a notebook PC or an information appliance or a palm device.

Without the PC how are you going to access the Net? I don’t think that the

information appliance or the portable device is going to replace the PC. It can

only be an additional device just like the mobile phone. The PC is going to find

application in every possible area. Till about three years ago nobody thought of

using a PC at home. Today the home market is one of the major drivers for the

PC.
