Midsized companies need to move fast, yet often lack the resources to take advantage of powerful storage technologies widely deployed in the enterprise. HP is helping bridge this gap with low-cost ways to accelerate applications, including the most affordable solid state drive (SSD) read-caching solution from a major vendor with SSD options for HP MSA Storage starting at $1,599.(1) For customers looking at hybrid flash storage, HP is now offering a new HP StoreVirtual Storage system which is 12 times faster than an equivalently priced spinning media array.(1,2) Additionally, HP is now helping customers protect data with a more scalable HP StoreOnce Backup appliance and new HP StoreEasy Storage file serving appliances that include software for disaster recovery and cloud backup.

“The demand for rapid response to changing conditions is crucial for businesses of all sizes, but for midsized companies, access to required storage capabilities can be just out of reach,” said Barun Lala, Director, Storage, HP India. “At HP, we’re working with channel partners to simplify storage infrastructure and accelerate growth for customers by bringing hot technologies such as flash storage down into the entry segment.”

Flash storage that eliminates price barriers to application acceleration

Two of the fastest growing segments in the external storage market are entry and flash arrays. HP is helping customers and channel partners ride the intersection of both of these waves by combining recently-introduced SSD caching and tiering capabilities with aggressively priced flash drives. HP’s market-leading MSA disk array enables customers to perform large-scale queries and other data-intensive operations with up to 65 percent less latency, which in turn boosts business productivity.(2)

HP also released a new StoreVirtual 4335 hybrid flash array that utilizes the latest SSDs and Adaptive Optimization tiering functionality to deliver 12 times the performance with more than 90 percent power and footprint savings per 2-node cluster than a spinning disk configuration.(2) The system is compatible with and shares the same management experience as other StoreVirtual-based solutions, including the HP StoreVirtual Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA), HP ConvergedSystem 200-HC StoreVirtual hyper-converged appliances, and the built-in storage within HP Helion OpenStack. Common data services such as replication for disaster recovery and online data migration between storage pools provide 100 percent interoperability and flexibility to mix and match deployments where needed.

HP Channel Partners can easily introduce midsize businesses to hybrid flash storage with the specially priced, 2-node HP StoreVirtual 4335 Hybrid SAN bundle at a 30 percent savings(1). Utilizing HP Peer Motion, customers can seamlessly move workloads to the new hybrid StoreVirtual cluster with only a few clicks and zero application disruption.

Protect twice as much data faster and at 23 percent lower cost(1)

HP has also upgraded its StoreOnce Backup family to better accommodate the needs of small- and medium-sized businesses. Built on the same foundation as the flagship HP StoreOnce 6500 Backup appliance, the new entry-level StoreOnce 2900 protects up to 70 TB of data in a single, 12-hour window and restores up to 41 TB in the same period.(2)

The scalable, entry-level HP StoreOnce 2900 Backup appliance offers customers twice as much backup capacity(3) and 30 percent better performance(4) than competitive systems at 23 percent lower cost.(5) Customers can start small but grow to 31.5 TB of usable capacity in a space-saving 2U footprint.(6) The system is also fully compatible with HP StoreOnce Recovery Manager Central for simple, hypervisor-managed data protection of HP 3PAR StoreServ Storage arrays. Support for all the same enterprise-class data services shared across the HP StoreOnce family—including HP StoreOnce Integrity Plus security and HP StoreOnce Catalyst for application-integrated backup—ensures that smaller customers get all the benefits of HP’s industry-recognized, best-in-class backup technology.

For smaller customers looking for a completely software-defined backup appliance, the HP StoreOnce Virtual Storage Appliance (VSA) can be run within a virtual machine without any need to purchase additional hardware. HP StoreOnce VSA provides deduplicated disk backup features alongside application-based virtual machines on virtual servers running VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Linux KVM. HP StoreOnce VSA is expanded to include a larger 50TB high capacity option as well as a fully-functional 1TB free option. Customers can to download the free 1TB StoreOnce VSA starting on March 23 at www.hp.com/go/freebackup.

Enhanced file solutions increase efficiency and shield customers from risk

HP has refreshed HP StoreEasy Storage with new 1450, 1650, and 1850 models based on HP ProLiant Gen9 servers. Starting at under $5,500, HP StoreEasy Storage helps companies support expanding file storage needs—now with 56 percent greater capacity at 20 percent lower cost (8). To improve productivity and protect business operations, the new systems support 25 times faster RAID rebuilds and include disaster recovery options to reduce the risk of data loss.(7) The new models also include enhancements to the StoreEasy Dashboard, improving responsiveness to business growth by automatically providing alerts to customers and resellers when system capacity is running low.
