Himachal Focuses on Gujarat Model
The Government of Himachal Pradesh is planning to adopt the Gujarat
e-governance modelthat was successfully implemented in Gujarat by TCS. TCS
which developed the e-budget software for the Gujarat government will now share
its presentations with the Himachal Pradesh government. The state has already
taken several initiatives to popularize IT in government functioning, to make
delivery system faster. Initiatives such as SMS gateway, e-Samadhan, and
interactive web based services have also been launched by the government.

Kerala Secretariat Digitization
The Kerala government in a move to promote e-governance has digitalized all
records in the secretariat. The completion digitalization would help the public
to get access to better services. About 3.5 lakh files between 1991-2009 in
twenty-nine departments have already been digitalized. The work of scanning and
preserving the records has been given to a undisclosed public sector company.
The program would also be extended to other offices.

Chennai Metro Website Update
As part of the e-governance initiative, the Chennai Metropolitan Development
Authority (CMDA) has launched the computerization, preparation, and layout plans
on its website www.cmdachennai.gov. The initiative would help people to know
about the availability of approved plots for purchase. The website will also
help in checking the authenticity of the approved details of plots and also the
approved layout of roads available for lands located around it. The initiative,
a part of Rs 16 lakh e-gov plan, will help banks to view the nature of layout
and speed up loan processes. CMDA will also install a new software, ushering in
transparency in the approval of building plan. The software would also provide
details of compliance of building to norms as well.

Orissa SDC Project Goes to Spanco
The Orissa government has awarded a Rs 30 crore State Data Center (SDC)
project to Spanco. The SDC order is part of the core infrastructure under the
National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) instituted by the Department of IT, GoI. The
project will be implemented over a period of four months. There are around
twenty-three similar projects across the country which are part of this plan
with a total expenditure of close to Rs 1,110 crore. Spanco plans to have five
to seven SDC projects in the country.
