Hinduja GSL was the only company in this years survey that went one rank down from the previous year. However, its initiatives on training continued to grow strong. Key parameters where the company scored high, were training and gender inclusivity. Apart from the training imparted to its employees, the company also started a new initiative called as English coaching classes, which aimed at mainly the mid-management and the top level executives in the company. This would help them gain more confidence while interacting with the clients. In May, the company started its HGS Toast Masters Club that acted as a tool for personality development and vocabulary improvement for the paid members. However, the highlight for the company last year was a program for the associates who were pursuing graduation and post-graduation. The company took an initiative to have in-house faculty to teach the associates after work hours. This helped the company to promote associates to specific departments after their learning, rather than looking out for freshers outside the organization.
According to the survey, key pain areas were in parameters such as work culture and job content. Employees were also unhappy with the kind of perks, salary hikes, and other benefits available to them. The company is now focusing heavily on these areas by compiling and mapping all job descriptions for respective sites, and bundling them on the Intranet. As for the pay scale, the company believes in performance based remuneration and started out a performance incentive scheme. This scheme was earlier applicable for the manager level and above, however the company has now made it open for the associate level as well.
The company maintained a good record in terms of gender inclusivity. The ratio of men to women in the company was 60:40. Interestingly, the company has a policy of recruiting a female employee over a male employee even if both stand equal on merit and experience levels. A sabbatical leave policy was also introduced by the company for the employees.
