For the past sometime, there have been strong rumors suggesting technology major Hewlett-Packard (HP) diversifying into mobile devices. Despite, iPhone-like purported image, disowned by the company, it's second foray into mobility devices seems pertinent.
The impressive Smartphone and Phablet device market is apparently tempting HP CEO Meg Whitman. The creation of presumed mobility division had already added fuel to fire. Whitman, with learnings from the past misadventure, is perhaps, treading a cautious path.
The company though have had to chop Palm and WebOS endeavor, a couple of years ago, but its new Android-based tablet, could possibly ring the bell. Largely skewed towards consumer market, the technology heavyweight is already going gaga over mobility.
HP's real romance with mobility devices, however is yet to unfold, though it has virtually embarked onto Android journey. HP, in a statement, while dispelling rumors, said that with new form factors, they offer differentiated value and appended that they would bring Smartphones but restrained from giving any timeframe
Even as the technology giant's personal and printing products, after much market dominance, are striving to notch further, the company, with a tablet portfolio, is apparently gearing to redefine mobility and poised for imposing comeback into mobility segment.
Refraining from a direct comment on the context, founder and lead consultant at Coeus Age Kapil Dev Singh feels that Smartphone market is though lucrative, but there is a presence of strong contenders that makes space hyper competitive.
