Almost a year after rolling out Touch ID and Face ID for iPhone devices to provide an extra layer of security for WhatsApp users, WhatsApp has unveiled WhatsApp Fingerprint Lock feature for Android users. WhatsApp announced the same on its blog, along with instructions on how to enable WhatsApp Fingerprint Lock.

This feature has already been rolled out and is available for all Android WhatsApp users. The feature strictly ensures that no one other than the owner of the device is able to open the free messaging app. Let us now explore o how one can avail of this feature on their Android device.

How to Enable WhatsApp Fingerprint Lock?

  1. Firstly, WhatsApp users would be required to go to Google Play and update the app to its latest version.
  2. After step 1, users can click on the Settings tab under which they need to click on the option that says Account.
  3. Under Account, users will then need to choose the Privacy under which the last option available is Fingerprint Lock.
  4. How to Enable WhatsApp Fingerprint Lock4. When users click on the Fingerprint Lock, they are redirected to a page that says Unlock with fingerprint wherein users can place their thumb on the fingerprint sensor of their device to complete the process.

Even if WhatsApp is locked, users will be able to answer calls without unlocking the app. Furthermore, users can also choose if they wish to see a message preview and notification on their device when the app is locked.
