HCL Technologies (HCL), a leading global technology company, celebrated its 10-year presence in North Carolina with an event graced by the Honorable Governor Roy Cooper, HCL’s senior leadership, customers, members of state organizations and academia. After a thorough evaluation and site selection search, HCL had chosen Cary, North Carolina as the location of its first Global Delivery Center (GDC) in 2008. In 2015, HCL expanded in North Carolina, with the company announcing the addition of more jobs. HCL now employs 1,500 people in the state with the Cary GDC offering a wide array of innovative technology solutions and services.

To commemorate the North Carolina milestone and its 30th anniversary in the United States, HCL also announced the launch of its Women’s Leadership Center, based in North Carolina, with dedicated physical space and formal initiatives in STEM training, leadership development and mentorship opportunities for women. Research shows that the United Sates will have 1.4 million computing jobs in 2020, but only 3 percent will be held by women.

The Women’s Leadership Center is a critical step in HCL’s commitment to diversity and inclusion, working with the ecosystem in North Carolina to facilitate, enable, and empower local institutions and communities of influence to advance career and leadership opportunities for women in technology.

“With our top-flight workforce, commitment to education, and friendly economic climate, companies like HCL find success doing business in North Carolina,” said Governor Roy Cooper. “I congratulate HCL on this important milestone and look forward to working together to build a North Carolina that works for everyone.”
