Industry research show that of the 6.5 million non-engineering graduates coming out every year, who are academically qualified to join the diversified workforce of the industry; at least 80-85% require additional skills to make them job-ready and employable. Furthermore a recent survey on skill mismatch and finding the right talent showed that up to 75 percent of employers in India have trouble finding the right people, particularly at entry levels. An additional complexity is high levels of attrition in the entry-level (0-3 year experience) workforce, leading to expensive and repetitive cycle of hiring, training, staffing and replacement for the same role. Corporate needs job ready resources, quality, high level of productivity and sustainability.

HCL TalentCare is committed to skilling graduates; thereby bridging the employability divide in the IT industry. Furthermore, to address the skill gap challenge for graduates who are not engineers; HCL TalentCare also kick-started a campaign - ‘’Career for Graduates in IT’’ on World Youth Skills Day, July 15 to provide greater career opportunities for graduates from non-engineering background and offer them relevant career opportunities at entry-level in multinational IT companies across the country.

Mr. Ravishankar B, Executive Vice President, HCL TalentCare said, “HCL TalentCare is focused on addressing the complete value chain of sourcing, skilling and staffing requirements for entry-level employments in key industries like IT and associated industries like banking, insurance, healthcare etc.. In a nutshell, we are creating a business model by offering “Productivity-on-Arrival” and “Just-in-time hiring” to our clients and a “career launch pad” to graduates. The YGP for IT is a 3 month residential program for graduates coming from non-engineering background and transforming them for entry-level roles in IT sector. The training will be conducted in our state-of-the-art residential campuses in Chennai and Hyderabad. Currently some of our clients in the IT sector are increasingly demanding graduates for roles like Application Support and Maintenance, Testing, Infrastructure Management etc. The YGP for IT module addresses this segment and provide adaptive, experiential, customized and collaborative learning to the students. The course has a rigorous and intensive 10 hours a day training for students and examines them on par with industry standards to suit the need of clients.”

“We are happy to announce the ‘’Career for Graduates in IT’’ campaign on the occasion of World Youth Skills Day, 15th July. Through this campaign we will be conducting campus activation drives and student engagements in over 1000 colleges across the country and continue aligning with Government’s Skilling India mission”, he added.
