HCL Infosystems Appoints Harsh Chitale as CEO Based in Noida, Harsh took over as the CEO from Ajai Chowdhry who will continue to be the chairman. Chitale has vast experience with rich business management in both Indian and global companies. He has handled various large system integration and lifecycle services business. Prior to joining HCL Infosystems, Chitale was with Honeywell Process Solutions, where he led the business for the North and South America region. While at Honeywell, Chitale played a leading role in driving three strategic acquisitions of Honeywell Process Solutions in Europe and Canada.

Lo Apotheker Named CEO and President of HP

HP appointed Lo Apotheker as its chief executive officer and president. Apotheker, who previously served as CEO of SAP, will also join HPs Board of Directors. The Board also elected Ray Lane, managing partner at Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, as a new member of the Board and designated him as non-executive chairman. Both elections are effective November 1.

Suparno Banerjee Named New VP of HP

HP announced Suparno Banerjee as their new vice president of strategy and planning for enterprise business, HP, Asia Pacific and Japan, with immediate effect. In this newly created role, Banerjee will head strategy, planning, coordination, and growth initiatives across all Asia Pacific markets with a strong focus on cloud computing, services, and software solutions. Banerjee will report to Piau Phang Foo, senior vice president and managing director for HP, Asia Pacific and Japan. Prior to this, Banerjee was the vice president of HPs global government industry group. Banerjee has twenty-five years of experience managing IT services in government and commercial sectors across the world. Prior to HP, he was a director with Deloitte Consultings federal practice.

R Chandrashekhar is New DoT Secretary

R Chandrashekhar has taken over as the secretary of department of telecommunication, Government of India. Lately, he was given the additional charge of DoT following the retirement of PJ Thomas, who has been appointed as the central vigilance commissioner (CVC). Chandrashekhar is a 1975 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer, and had active involvement in the formulation of national policies, agendas, strategies, and action plans for e-governance in the country.

Alcatel-Lucent Names Sarvdeep Garg as VP, India

Alcatel-Lucent has appointed Sarvdeep Garg as vice president, services, India. Based in Gurgaon, Garg will report to Vivek Mohan, president of Alcatel-Lucents services activities. Garg will be responsible for driving excellence in the services organization. He will lead a team working towards providing best-in-class service delivery, quality, and innovative support to their customers in India.

Nokias Head of Mobile Solutions, Vanjoki, Resigns

Anssi Vanjoki, head of Nokias mobile solutions unit, has decided to resign from his current position, following the appointment of Stephen Elop as the chief executive of the company. Vanjoki, who joined Nokia in 1991, has a six-month notice period and will continue with his current tasks for the time being.

Polycoms Management Team Expanded

Polycom added six seasoned business executives to its leadership team including Joseph Burton as SVP, chief strategy and technology officer, GM, enterprise and service provider; Sudhakar Ramakrishna as SVP and GM, products, and chief development officer; Susan Hayden as EVP and GM, Polycom SMB; Alan Rudolph as SVP, global services. Other key appointments included Gary Rider as the president, Europe, Middle-East, and Africa (EMEA), and Ashley Goldsmith as SVP, human resources.

Mauj Mobile Expands Management Team

Mauj Mobile expanded its management team for extending its focus and commitment to the mobile services business by appointing Prasad Nair as the head of sales, Hari Nair as the head of content operations, and Jayant Verma as the head of product development. As head of sales (content business and international business), Prasad will be responsible for new business development, day-to-day engagement with Indian and international clients, and ongoing revenue management.

Hari Nair will be responsible for leading all content related functions including licensing acquisition, operations, and programming of content and working closely with the content partners of the company and the mobile operators. Verma, meanwhile, will be responsible for innovation, product development, and product operations at Mauj.

Kerley on Board at AIF

The American India Foundation (AIF) inducted Jay O Kerley as the newest member of its Board of Directors, at its annual board meeting in Chicago. Kerley is currently serving as the corporate Vice President and Deputy Chief Information Officer at Applied Materials. Kerley will be responsible for Global Information Services strategy, planning, operations, infrastructure, and development at Applied Materials. Prior to joining Applied Materials in 2006, Kerley led Global Operations and Mergers and Acquisitions Integration at DHL Americas.

In this role, Dang will be responsible for growing and driving the companys partners and alliances strategy in India, and will be reporting directly to David Taylor, president of Asia Pacific and Japan, Micro Focus.

Anil Pochiraju Now MD, F5 Networks

F5 Networks has appointed Anil Pochiraju as the managing director of sales for India. In his new role, Pochiraju will oversee the companys efforts in India and will provide strategic direction in tandem with the companys growth plans to ensure that the companys successful business model can scale appropriately in India. Pochiraju has seventeen years of experience in working with various technology firms in the US and India. Prior to this appointment, Pochiraju led an F5 sales and technology team focused on the West Coast of the US for over five years.

Ex-HP CEO Hurd Leaving News Corp Board

Former Hewlett-Packard CEO, Mark Hurd was not nominated for re-election as the director of News Corp. However, Hurd will remain on News Corps board until the media companys next annual meeting on October 15, 2010.
After his resignation from Hewlett-Packard, Hurd was hired by Oracle Corp as its co-president last month.

New Roles for Nair and Bharadwaj in MAIT

MAIT, the apex body representing Indias IT hardware, training, and R&D services sectors, saw a change of guard with Sandeep Nair, president, Emerson Network Power (India), taking over as the new president and Alok Bharadwaj, senior vice president, Canon India, as its vice president for the term 2010-11.
