The year ended June 1999 saw a sensational performance from

this Shiv Nadar company, but HCL Infosystems failed to live up to expectations

this year. Revenues grew by just 19% to Rs 1,125 crore and net profit rose a

meager 25% to Rs 73.06 crore–the result was a fall in rankings from #14 to

#26. However, the size of the turnover and net profit placed it at #4 and #12,

respectively. Gross block was up 8% to Rs 92.50 crore, as HCL Infosystem was

ranked at #15 in gross block size and #44 in growth in gross block.

Nevertheless, a ROCE of 22% placed it at #20 in the category. HCL Infosystem is

an integrated technology company providing systems integration services software

solutions. The company is also the undisputed leader in the domestic hardware

segment despite growing competition from the unorganized sector and is focused

on systems integration jobs for blue chips.
